Psalm XIV 1. I will give witness to You, Lord, Holiest Father, King of Heaven and Earth, + because You have been my consolation.
2. Behold, God is my salvation; + I will go in faith, and I will not be afraid.
3. The Lord is my strength and my song+ and He has become my salvation.
4. Your right hand O Lord, has been made great and strong ~ Your right hand, O Lord has struck the enemy+ and in the splendour of Your glory You have overthrown my adversaries.
5. Let the poor see and be happy, + seek God and may your soul live.
6. Let the heavens and the earth praise Him, + the seas, and all tiny things that move in them.
7. Since God will save Sion + and they will rebuild the cities of Judah. 8. They will live in Sion + and she shall become their heritage. 9. The seed of His servants shall possess Sion + and those who love his name shall dwell in her.
From Francis in Christ to us, of what meaning has this for us? Francis lived His life between the cross and the crib, for him the cross always came first though each one dwelled within the other. Francis gave us the crθche.
To my mind, Psalm XIV is the psalm in which our Lord Jesus leaves the Cross, is raised from the dead and ascends into heaven all in the same moment so that He will come in glory on his birthday. Jesus gives praise and thanks to His highest Father who has been His consolation all the days of His life and through death to life everlasting. God is with him and He is not afraid to die, rather goes faithfully to the cross because the Lord is His strength and song and will become His salvation. Our Lord Jesus rises from the tomb in full knowledge that by means of His salvific death He has saved his enemies who are vanquished by Gods strong right hand that rises up his only son in the splendour and glory of the Ascension. Then the poor in spirit will find God when they seek him and if they so choose they may be saved. "Let the heavens and the earth praise Him, + the seas, and all tiny things that move in them." Again, as I mentioned earlier, even those tiny creatures that make their way through the waters have the choice whether or not to praise God. Why- because - 7. Since God will save Sion + and they will rebuild the cities of Judah. 8. They will live in Sion + and she shall become their heritage. The seed of His servants shall possess Sion + and those who love his name shall dwell in her. Psalm 53:6 Oh that the salvation of Israel was come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad. Yes the salvation of Israel came out of Zion, Christ set His people free and though they we are free we needs must choose to rebuild His church. Psalm 69:35 For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession. (KJVA) Think on it - Nativity is not unless Christ chose to die for His world since one moment in time determines the knowledge of another, previous moment. Therefore, we remember and celebrate the Nativity of Joshua - Ben Joseph Ben Levi because he grew up to keep faith with His Father.
