Psalm VII 1. All you nations clap your hands shout to God with a voice of gladness. 2. For the Lord, the Most High the awesome, is the great king over all the earth. 3. For the most holy Father of heaven, our King before all ages, has sent his beloved Son from on high and has brought salvation in the midst of the earth. 4. Let the heavens be glad and let the earth rejoice let the sea and all that is in it be moved let the fields and all that is in them be joyful. 5. Sing a new song to Him sing to the Lord, all the earth! 6. For the Lord is great and highly to be praised, and awesome is He beyond all gods! 7. Give the Lord, [you] families of Nations, give the Lord glory and honour, give to the Lord the honour due His name. 8. Offer up your bodies and take up His holy cross and follow His most holy commands even to the end. 9. Let the whole earth tremble before his face say among the nations that the Lord has ruled from a tree. On the Feast of the Ascension, add. 10. And he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the most holy Father in heaven, O God, be exalted above the heavens and above the earth be your glory. 11. And we know that He has come that He will come to judge justice.

On Psalm VII In counterpoint to his Psalm I, this Psalm is a Song of victory wherein Francis exhorts all creation to rejoice in gladness because through His beloved Son God has bought salvation to the earth. Once more Francis allows the Psalms to speak for themselves, interspersing his own phrases, and other Scripture between them. Francis arrangement is a profusion of joy painted for us by the brush of the word. Francis exhorts the heavens to be glad, the sea, and all its creatures to be moved, to let the fields be joyful. Francis calls upon the whole Earth to sing the praises of our great God. For the end of exile is at hand, because Jesus gave up his body to his Father to save everything that ever lived and will live. To us who profess to follow Jesus, Francis tells us to offer up our bodies to the Lord and to follow our Lord’s commands to the end. As Francis’ verses, 10 and 11 show us this ‘end’ is when Jesus returns to judge justice. With these two verses, which are added from the Feast of the Ascension to Advent Francis closes this Psalm with a paraphrase of the Apostles Creed Compare “He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the most holy Father in heaven…And we know that He has come that he will come to judge justice." With “He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty: From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead..”
